摘要：Automorphic representations give rise to classes in the singular cohomology with rational coefficients of locally symmetric spaces. The contribution of a given representation is often spread out in multiple cohomological degrees. A conjecture of Venkatesh explains why this occurs in terms of a conjecturally existing motive attached to the representation. I will introduce this conjecture in the setting of GLn over a CM field and describe my proof — conditional on various assumptions — of its p-adic realisation, wherein one considers cohomology with p-adic coefficients, and the role of the motive is played by a Galois representation (which has been constructed).
