摘要：

We explain why it is so difficult to compute a very well known mathematical object: the matrix exponential. We present some methods based on rational approximation of functions. 

These methods are used to build an efficient and fully parallelizable scheme to solve parabolic PDEs. Several numerical tests are presented.
