Title：An Introduction to Polar Actions 

Abstract：An isometric group action on a Riemannian manifold $(M, g)$ by a compact Lie group $G$ is called polar action if there is a connected, closed, embedded submanifold of $M$ which meets all the orbits orthogonally. There is a rich theory of polar actions. We will give an introduction to this rich theory.
