Abstract: In this talk, I will present a new spectral graph invariant for finite (simple) graphs which we named ``magneto-spectral height''. This invariant vanishes if and only if the graph is a forest and it is maximal for complete graphs. We will discuss the behaviour of this invariant under particular graph operations and provide lower and upper bounds in terms of combinatorial and/or geometric restrictions. If time permits, I can also explain that this invariant can also be defined for compact Riemannian manifolds. This is joint work with Chunyang Hu, Bobo Hua, Supanat Kamtue, Shiping Liu and Florentin Muench.
