课程简介:
  This short course is open to upper level undergraduate students who
have taken basic numerical analysis courses, and graduate students. It
will give a short introduction to spectral methods for partial
differential equations. Spectral methods are among the most efficient
numerical methods for solving partial differential equations, especially
for smooth solutions. In recent years, spectral methods have also been
used to solve non-smooth problems. We will address issues in algorithm
formulation, analysis, and efficient implementations. Basic knowledge
about elementary numerical analysis, partial differential equations and
computer programming are assumed. Homework and a final mini-project will
be assigned and form an integral part of the course.
