摘要:The classical Brun-Titchmarsh theorem gives an upper bound, which is of correct order of magnitude, for the number of primes in an individual arithmetic progression. We will discuss our recent work on sharpening this theorem with better constants by combining Dirichlet polynomials, character/exponential sums, $\ell$-adic cohomology and spectral theory of automorphic forms. If time permits, we also mention its connection with the Landau-Siegel zero. This is a joint work with Junren Zheng.
