摘要:In the past decade, a revolution in materials science has been brought about by the recognition of topology in characterizing the physical properties. These materials which support nontrivial topological edge states are termed as topological materials. In this talk I will give an introduction on the recent advances in topological materials and then introduce our recent analysis results on topological photonic materials. More specifically, I will first show the existence of conically singular points in the spectrum of the associated propagation operator which is the hallmark of topological materials. Then I present how to obtain an effective equation from the Maxwell's equations with a multi-scale material weight and demonstrate the existence and motion of topologically protected edge states.
