Collaborative research program between ICTP and Chinese Institutions

In order to enhance the collaborative research, the Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics has agreed to cooperate with hereinafter Chinese Institutions, Beijing International Center for Mathematical Research, School of Mathematical Sciences at USTC, Chern Institute of Mathematics at Nankai University and Institute of Mathematics at Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science on the following programs:



1) Joint postdoctoral scheme;


The organizations agree to co-sponsor postdoctoral positions for Chinese researchers in the areas of Geometry and Dynamical Systems. Successful applicants will spend one or two years at ICTP.Each Chinese Institution can recommend, prior to the ICTP yearly postdoctoral call closing date (July 31), one young mathematician working at their institution to apply to the joint postdoctoral scheme every year. Applicants should apply to ICTP's yearly postdoctoral call, and the final decision will be made by the Selection Committee of ICTP.

 


2) Short-term visits of members of the organizations;


ICTP and the Chinese Institutions agree to co-sponsor short term-at most six months visits of members of the organizations to visit another organization, signatory of the present agreement.Representatives of Chinese Institutions will communicate to the ICTP representative as for the candidates for this cooperation prior to their application to visit ICTP. Applicants should apply to ICTP's yearly short term visit call, and the final decision will be made by the Selection Committee of ICTP.



3) Schools and Conferences.

ICTP and the Chinese Institutions agree to organize at least once every 2 years a School and/or Conference in the areas of Geometry and Dynamical Systems to be held at one of the above Chinese Institutions.ICTP will propose a location among the Chinese Institutions and a theme to all Chinese Institutions who will make the final decision. Once approved, ICTP will make a call for participants coming from developing countries. Selection of applications will be made by the organizing committee.
